Hi Anna,

I've got the boot-loader installed now.

It wrote several lines of code to the firmeware.

Thanks for that.

However, I still have no speech from the unit.

I've no idea if the volumes really low on the player....

I used the Rockbox Utility to install all the files this time and it did so
successfully.

Still no speech.

Can you please tell me how to raise the volume of the player?

From going into the menu and what buttons to press?

Tahnks, and I'm going to plug it into an amp I have hear in case I can pick up
on some speech by turning it up loud to get into the volume controls, though i
doubt I will hear anything.

Thanks again,

Dj Paddy

  Hi DJ Paddy,

Sounds like you still need to install the Rockbox bootloader. The manual has
a link to download a program called iPodPatcher. When you run it with the iPod
attached to your PC, you are given the option to install it. Type I and press
Enter. The bootloader should be installed, and all should be well.

Another thing to check is that you have renamed the voice file to
english.voice, and that it is in the .rockbox\langs folder.

  HTH,
  Anna
