[blindipod] iPod problems

I posted this message a couple of days ago and am reposting it just in case
anyone has had any brainwaves.
Using an iPod Nano. When connected to the PC, "Charging" Is shown on the
screen, but i#Tunes does not open nor do you hear that little sound you get
when a USB device is lugged in. The PC is fine as I've tried another iPod and
that works as it should. Likewise, when I plug this iPod into another computer
it doesn't work, so I guess it's a problemw tith the iPod. iTunes is set to
open when the iPod is plugged in, but it does not. It's like the PC is not
recognising it beyond as something that needs charging.
Any ideas what might be wrong?
