Hello Brett:

First I want to thank you so much for your response.

Even though it comes up as an F. drive, I am not able to access it from
explorer either, when I hit alt enter to bring up properties, nothing happens,
my computer freezes up for a few seconds.

If I were to reformat from windows explorer, would that not change the ipod?

Thanks so much, but this is not helping.

Thank you so much in advance.
Cherryl

  Hi Cherryl,

Not sure if this will help, but probably can't hurt to try. If you can see
the iPod in Windows explorer, can you try formatting it from there? It needs to
be formatted as fat 32.

  Hope this helps,
  brett.

    Hello everyone.

I am a new person on this list. My Name is Cherryl, and I am from BC.
Canada.

    Now on to my questions.

I have an Apple mini Ipod which was purchased from someone. This mini ipod
is not recognized by windows. What happens,
When I plug it in to the USB, I get a message saying "this ipod needs to be
reformatted would you like to open Itunes so your ipod can be restored?" Of
course, I hit the ok button, and when itunes opens, it tells me "this ipod
appears to be corrupt, please restore it so it can work correctly". When I
finally find the right restore, it then lets me know that it can not download
the right software as the source "ipod" is not found.

I have been searching on the net for any "fix or recovery" tools, and
haven't had too much luck.

What seems very odd to me is that once in a while, I will see the ipod in
itunes.

I can tell you, it does show up as an F drive in explorer. When I go to
the add new hardware, it is listed as an apple ipod.

I am very frustrated and puzzled.

Any thoughts, suggestions, ideas.... would sure be appreciated.

I should let you all know, I am a blind individual and I live on my own,
which means no sighted help.

    Thank you all in advance.

    Cherryl
