Yep, Apple makes several speaker packages for the iPods. There is no reason to stick with Apple for this type of accessory though, since anything with a 1/8" male plug will plug into the iPod's regular earphone jack. So, I'm sure any portable speakers sold for laptops, or at Radioshack, etc. etc. will work fine. Volume won't be a problem if the speakers are powered, either by battery or plugging them in. I have a sub+satellite system made by Cambridge Soundworks that is great for extended stays away from my real stereo.
