Hi,
The video iPods are exactly the same as the model I have when it comes to
controls (my younger sister has a video iPod, so I've seen them). When the
iPod is laid flat on a table, it looks like this:
There is a flat circle toward the bottom of the display. The bottom of this
circle is play/stop/pause, the top is menu (you press this to get to the
various menus, like music, settings, extras, Etc.),, the left side moves
back a track, and the right side moves forward a track. In the center of
this circle, there is a depressed button (on my model it's raised, but they
changed it slightly for video iPods). This is the select button; you use it
to select menu items. At the back of the unit, there is a sliding switch.
This is the hold switch. When it's on, the buttons won't work. The
headphone jack is also at the back of the unit. At the front, there is a
connector that you use with the cable that's provided with the iPod to
connect it to your computer.

To adjust volume, Apple has invented a touch-sensitive click wheel. On the
circle I was talking about before, if you run your finger around this
circle, you'll adjust the volume. This is also how you scroll through menu
options.

Do you have an Apple store close to where you live? If so, drop in, and I
bet they'll let you take a look at an iPod.

Hope this was semi-helpful.
Amanda

Hi

Thanks

What controls are there on your model? that'll give me an idea of how the
new video types work.

Hi,
I use the standard iPod (4th generation, 40 gig; they don't make this
model
anymore. It's comparative to the new iPod video with 60 gigs of memory).
I'm totally blind and use it relatively successfully. You can't load
rockbox onto the iPod. As far as I know, rockbox firmware only works with
the iRiver players. Sorry I don't have answers for your other questions.
Amanda

Hi

Are there any other models of ipod that are suitable and accessible to us
as blind people, other than the shuffle?

Which models will work with the rockbox sofware and when that's loaded do
you just use the ipod as before or does the software alter how you use it
and download to it?

I'm chatting with Anna about sites but whih others are suitable for me
using supernova?

which sites are legal and how safe are? apparently a lot of the file
sharing sites aren't safe at all, you cna easily get a virus from your
downloads, didn't think mp3's could contain virus's, ;I'm obviously
wrong,

right?

Brian mentioned a prog called annapod, it makes itunes more accessible I
believe, how good is this and how does the prog work?

OK, sure there'll be more but I dare say that'll do for now.
