[blindipod] MP3 players as dictaphones

Hi all,
Does anyone know of an accessible MP3 player, either hardware or software, that can be used as a dictaphone? I'm asking purely for research purposes as my girlfriend, who's also on this list, is going to trial out one for her college course, and if that helps she may consider purchasing one, I don't know. This is so she can record lecture notes, or other notes that may need writing down later.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions regarding this matter.
