Barbara, my advice is not the expert advice of a programmer. But
based on my own experience, if you uninstall JAWS and reinstall it
properly, you should get the default JAWS settings that typically come
with a brand-new installation. To be sure of this, however, you want
to instruct the uninstall program to remove all shared components.
This will ensure that any customized settings you've programmed for
certain user profiles on your system are removed so that JAWS will
think it's actually installing onto a brand-new machine when you put
it back on.
Also, just to be safe, I uninstall the ILM authorization prior to
uninstalling JAWS. I don't know that this is necessary; but I do it
just to be sure I will not waste a system authorization. Of course,
if you uninstall and then reinstall your ILM license, you'll want to
make sure you have either your original ILM authorization CD or that
you've written down the authorization code so you can type it in
manually. If you don't know your ILM code, it might be worth a call
to the JAWS technical support desk ([727]803-8600) to get some help
managing this. There's nothing more frustrating than knowing you've
paid fully for JAWS and being told the program can run only in
demonstration mode after it's just been repaired or installed!
Good luck.
