  Hi,

As far as I can tell you are right. I have an Ipod Shuffle which needs
Itunes. I also have a Creative MP3 player and a WS320M Recorder and player
which need nothing except Windows Explorer.

I don't know why so many people have gone for these Apple products because
the company itself does nothing to make its software accessible. I said on
another list a couple of months ago that I would never have Apple products in
the future and I haven't changed my mind.

  Regards

  David

  hello list.

my friend came to my house with his goodmans mp3 player and we connected it
to the pc using the u s b cable without the supplied software.

we used windows explorer to access the player and copied and pasted some mp3
files onto it.

  nice and easy, smile.

my question is this...do all portable media devices except for the ipod range
act like this?

can they all be accessed through windows explorer without the need for any
other 3rd party software installed?

this was so easy to do and didn't cause me any problems to get the mp3's onto
the player.
i like the idea and simplicity of this as i know how compllicated the use of
the ipod software is and was hoping someone on this list can advise me better
on the choice of a player.

  regards.

  stephen
