Hi Stephen, welcome to the list. I am certainly no expert in the
field, but I thought I'd reply so you had an answer quickly. I hate waiting
for new toys. I'm sure many will reply with their suggestions and thoughts
about what works for them.
One thing I'm quite sure about is that most will say the simplest
option and possibly one of the cheapest is the ipod shuffle. You can get
them in size one gig, and they have no real menus to navigate and a very
simple button structure. If you check out Brian's page with the link at the
end of this message there is a section on actual players and descriptions of
them. You'll find many of your answers there. Then you could come back to
the list with more questions. smile
Happy ipod hunting,
Jess

Hello list.
I have no idea of what technology is out there relating to ipod's,
portable media players and the interaction with a blind person.
My question is this and is quite simple.
~What is the best and most easy to use portable media player that i
can use to play largely mp3 files on?
I would like the capacity of the player to be at least 1 gb and the
unit must be small and take a 3.5mm stereo jack so i can plug in any type of
earphone.
Is there software out there that would enable me to purchase an ipod
or similar and install onto it with the unit then speaking the menus etc. to
me?
thanks in anticipation.
Stephen
