Hi Scott,

many thanks for all that.

One initial thing I've noticed is that the channel settings within sound
settings don't seem to effect the fm radio. I was trying to switch it into
mono while listening to the radio (to get a clearer signal) and nothing
appeared to happen.

Hi,

Answers below:

1. I understand the process of getting regular updates of the rockbox
software itself via the daily builds link etc. But on the question of the
boot loader, does the FWPatcher.exe program change? In other words, should
we regularly download the FWPatcher.exe prog and reflash the firmware and
reload it?

No, the Ffwpatcher.exe program is the same as far as I know. But check that
out on the rockbox list.

2. I am using the 1.29EU version of the firmware at present, I see there's a
1.30 version now up on the site, is there a view about whether this is
significantly better?

No, The 1.30 version is not supported by rockbox last I checked so 1.29 is
fine for what you need it to do.

3. Am I right in thinking that now Rockbox is running on my player, it
completely replaces the Iriver software? In other words,

Should I regard the rockbox manual as the only source of info for the way
the system works or does the iriver manual still have any aplication for me,
apart from obvious details like the position of sockets etc?

No, The IRiver firmware is still available to you if you need it by pressing
a sequence of keys as the unit powers up.

4. Still at a very early stage in terms of being a able to use the player,
but could someone give me an idea of the best way to organise material on
the disk. In other words, do you normally create directories for each album
or book for example?

Just create a folder for music, perhaps call it mp3_files and put each album
in its own folder in that and the same with books.

5. A specific thing I can't manage to do is to drop a bookmark at the point
I'm paused in a file.

I've never used the bookmarks feature, but will try it out over the next few
days and let the list know.

Hope this answers are of some use, email if more info needed.

Cheers,

Scott
