The weather cooperated until midafternoon, and we turned up four new species
for the count. Nine observers found 2402 individuals of 59 species, with new
entries being made by Savannah sparrows, ring-necked ducks, red-breasted
nuthatches, and an American tree sparrow. Bluebird numbers were strong, with 69
individuals; and 40 white-crowned sparrows were a high total for this count. We
were greeted by a cooperative peregrine at our first stop.
