[birdky] Sloughs Wednesday

19 December 2007,
I did a very brief drive by at Sloughs Wood Tract about 4PM today.
The Ohio River is up. The slough between 268 the Ohio River at the
intersection with 136 is flooded for the first time since last winter.
In fact the water is over 268 in two places.
NWS says the level at Newburgh is now falling, while at Mt. Vernon it
is now rising and will crest tomorrow evening.
Near Wood Tract the water is not a problem.
There is a oil well crew "pulling" the well at Wood Tract.
No Tundra Swans seen on either side of 268. I assume they are still
around but probably further south in out of sight areas.
Just some ducks and coots north of 268.
South of 268 lots of Snow, White-fronted, and Canada Geese.
