[birdky] Redtails and Peregrine Falcon

A nice increase in Red-tailed Hawks has occurred in
south-central Kentucky over the past week or so which
is likely due to the passage of recent cold fronts. I
made my usual route in southern Warren County today
and recorded 14 redtails where I had been recording
from one to four since about mid-November. Numbers
from the recent Beckham Bird Club fieldtrip to the
Peabody Wildlife Management Areas reflected this
increase also.
Present on the Western Ky University farm for the
first time this winter was the female calurus
intergrade which has accompanied the male light-morph
harlani on the farm for at least the past two winters.
I haven't seen the harlani this winter which has been
present for the past five.
A Peregrine Falcon was observed along Drakes Creek in
Warren County on December 10.
