It was too cold for most hunters this morning, making it a good time for me to
venture off the place and see what I could find along Whip-poor-will Creek. A
Red-tailed Hawk screamed at me for disturbing its peace in the sheltered locale
of the creek bottom. I saw one Winter Wren, a couple of Carolina Wrens, 2
Carolina Chickadees, a few White-throated Sparrows, some Cardinals and 2 dead
deer carcasses. One was on an island in the creek. Pepper waded over to munch a
few bites of ickum. She waded over to another, empty island later, thinking
there might be something good on that island too.
