The Danville Christmas Bird Count was held on Saturday, Dec. 20. Twenty-six
(26) observers in 9 parties sighted 8298 birds consisting of 70 species. The
two highlights were the highest recorded counts in 54 years of white-crowned
sparrows (155) and sandhill cranes (147 where an estimated 110 were sighted
flying).
