Apparently Cooper's Hawks hunt by sound: My sister Julie has a cooper's that 
frequents here yard. Her husband Jim was cleaning his car's tires (the bottle 
of cleaner had a peculiar squeak to it when squirted), when he became aware of 
the sudden departure of all living creatures from the bird feeders. this was 
soon followed by the awareness of talons just feet away and closing. Being the 
mature adult he is, he ran screaming, so I am told. scott ksmrlb@xxxxxxxxxxx
