The 30 observers had a beautiful day on Sunday, December 15 for the 
Louisville Bird Count.  The sky was mostly sunny with a high of 50 degrees 
and the wind was calm.
The 14 groups had 89 species and 16,287 individuals.  The species count was 
much better than last year's 76 but the individual count was lower by 1633.

Some of the highlights were:
4 Common Loons
2 Mute Swans
78 Hooded Mergansers
2 Peregrine Falcons
15 Sandhill Cranes
42 Bonaparte's Gull
591 Ring-billed Gulls
114 American Crows (Last year 386-West Nile Virus may have played a part in 
this low count.)
4 Brown Thrashers
2 Lapland Longspurs
1 Pine Siskin
2 Gray Catbirds
