[birdky] KY Dam gull roost

Saturday evening I sat on KY dam to see where the thousands of gulls went at
the end of the day. They didn't go anywhere. They all filtered into the
mass of gulls already sitting on the lake just below the pull offs. The
larger gulls flew to the far edges of the huge raft of gulls. The
Bonaparte's and Ring-billed gulls stayed close to the dam.
It was getting dark and I couldn't positively add another species to Mark
Bennett's and my CBC results. We did see one Adult Lesser-backed earlier in
the day.
One gull looked to be a first winter Great Black-backed and one Bonaparte's
had a full black head. If you have never seen a huge population of gulls at
KY Dam this might be the year to make the trip. It is staggering.
