[birdky] Re: Dave's tundra bird post

Dave's tundra bird post inspired me to set out across some of the grain fields
that border our farm to see what I could find. (Our name for this treeless
expanse is the gamma quadrant). All I saw in the open fields were a tiny flock
of Horned Larks, a few Killdeer and some Bluebirds. At some point in the walk
an unseen bird managed to unload on my telescope objective. When I got back
home Alison said a Sharp-shinned Hawk had been sitting for over an hour about a
hundred feet from the house on a saw horse in the hall of the stable, but it
had left by then. All in all, I didn't do too well taking inspiration from Dave
today, but there's always tomorrow.
