[birdky] shrike attack

While making breakfast Sunday morning, I looked out my
kitchen window and observed a Loggerhead Shrike and
House Sparrow struggling on the lawn. After 15 to 20
seconds the battle was over and the shrike carried the
sparrow across a freshly planted wheat field to a
distant fence row, probably to impale to poor sparrow
on some barbed wire. It would have made an interesting
video for NATURE or WILD KINGDOM. It was amazing how
easily the shrike carried the sparrow that long
distance. Tom
