Operation Migration Update:

The cranes arrived in Washington County, Kentucky 11/25/07. They are
grounded today and will not fly due to weather. There may be a window of
opportunity tomorrow 11/27 for them to proceed to Adair County. Check
the web site for daily updates. Your opportunity for viewing at the Wolf
Creek Dam National Fish Hatchery is drawing close. 

Keep in mind that there are no guarantees on the exact flight times so
watch the web site and check the weather forecast often. 

We will meet in the Hatchery parking lot at 6:00AM Central time the day
of the flight.

 

OM crew is looking for crane 733. OM contact info:

For spotters - 733's plumage is still mostly cinnamon color with some
white and he is wearing only one green leg band. Please call us

Subject: Operation Migration

 

The USFWS and Kentucky Fish and Wildlife announces on behalf of
Operation Migration an opportunity for you to view their whooping crane
migration at the Wolf Creek Dam National Fish Hatchery. You will not
have much more than a 24 hour notice of the flight so please check the
OM web site daily for the flight date. We will meet in the Hatchery
parking lot at 6:00AM Central time the day of the flight.

As of 11/19/07, Monday, OM was still grounded in Jackson County Indiana.

Issues concerning road closures due to repairs of Wolf Creek Dam have
ended and there should not be any problems about traveling along the
section of US 127 South that crosses the dam and provides access to the
Hatchery.
