[birdky] skunks and cranes

Late yesterday afternoon, we had three skunks foraging underneath the
feeders. I chased them off several times, but, after five or ten minutes,
they would return.
So, today, my wife and I spot a skunk in the pasture behind the house. We
expect to see him work his way up to the feeders. Suddenly, he runs -
really runs - for cover. We moved to the porch for a better look, expecting
to see a dog or a coyote. Instead, about 50 cranes fly over. Now, I know
skunks have poor vision, but it sure seemed as if the skunk was spooked by
the birds.
Note: third bird back for the lead was lighter in color and much smaller
than the others. I wondered if this individual could have been produced by
a late season nest.
