[birdky] Red-tailed Pirate

One morning last week on the way to Barren Reservoir,
I stopped to watch a Red-tailed Hawk dive-bombing
another. Judging by relative size, the male was
repeatedly diving at the female which was carrying
some unidentified prey.
It was a great day for soaring birds, clear and windy,
and they were high in the sky. After a number of
dives by the male, the female released the prey and I
could see it was a squirrel! The male did a roll-over
and caught the squirrel before it had fallen 15 feet.
What a sight.
I've seen Red-tails with squirrels many times, but
never one robbed by another Red-tail.
