Monday we had a RUBY THROATED HUMMINGBIRD, a late one stopping by the
scarlet sage. We also have had some late MONARCH BUTTERFLIES this week
along with beautiful ANGLEWINGS. Les and I were entertained by a
gorgeous teeny RUBY-CROWNED KINGLET while we were eating lunch in our
front sunroom. It gleaned insects from rhododendron leaves, took its
little beak up and down individual pine needles on our ancient big pine,
flew in front of the sliding glass door like a helicopter, and jumped
around from holly to pine to rhododendron for a long time. This morning
we saw an AMERICAN KESTREL, KILLDEER, WHITE-THROATED SPARROWS, lots of
HOUSE FINCHES, GOLDFINCHES, and lots of other yard birds!
Cheers, Joan Carr
