Amy and I met up with Roseanna yesterday afternoon to see her Western Grebe.
From the boat ramp on the south side of the lake we got nice looks at the
bird, but I wanted to get closer, so Amy and I went around to the Waitsboro
Rec Area side, parked at the boat ramp, and walked west down to the end of
the closed campground.  There we had even better looks, but the light was
not good, so we trekked through the woods on the hillside west another few
hundred yards until the bird was straight out.  From here in the late
afternoon light we could see every feather and the blood red eye!  It was
loosely associating with about a half dozen each P-b Grebes and Horned
Grebes.

While I was trying to photograph the grebe, Amy found aYellow-billed Cuckoo
working the trees above the shoreline for insects.  It remained in close,
clear view for several minutes!
