Had a chance to look at the Ohio River at Louisville for a brief time
yesterday morning, Nov 6, 2002.  Waterfowl were scarce despite the shift to
a NW wind overnight . . . guess the birds went farther south.  I arrived at
the Falls of the Ohio about two minutes after the local pair of Peregrines
did, so they had a sizable flock of Bonies in hasty retreat.  The quick look
I got at the birds yielded nothing suspicious, though.  A large number of
gulls remain in the area, although anything rare eluded me.  A lone Spotted
Sandpiper and a relatively tardy (for the Louisville area) Great Egret were
the only highlights.  Otherwise, a Common Loon, a few Horned Grebes, and a
small flock of Ring-necked Ducks and Lesser Scaup were all I could see on
the river.
