I left one small, tree dotted meadow unclipped this fall. It was an almost
empty stage every time I checked it in September. Then yesterday it was hopping
with the following bird species - Goldfinch, House Finch, Swamp Sparrow,
Yellow-rumped Warbler, Tennessee Warbler, Palm Warbler, and at least 1
Lincoln's Sparrow (picture confirmed by Dave).
I also got some mediocre pictures of what I thought was a Philadelphia Vireo.
Dave says it's a juvenile Red-eyed Vireo. Philadelphia Vireo would have been a
new species for me. Red-eyed Vireo, on the other hand, is, since I purged my
list of birds that I didn't feel really sure about, also a new species for me.
