[birdky] Sandhill Crane?

About noon today traveling on I-71 S just into Jefferson Co., KY I observed
a lone, large, gray bird glide with its neck out-stretched across the
highway in front of me. It flew from north to south (right to left). At
first glance because of the sun's angle I thought it was a Canada Goose but
as I passed under its glide path I watched this long-legged bird attempt to
land in the top of a tree just off the interstate right-of-way. Could it
have been a Sandhill Crane?
