As in recent years for this date, several thousand dccs and about 150 white
pelicans (so far) are using the main lake area of Lake Barkely near the mouth
of Little River Bay. The cormorants are between Little River and Crooked Ck.
bay all the way to the powerline between Rock Castle on the east bank and
Empire Farm on the west bank of the main lake. The pelicans are most often
just west of the channel south of Little River Bay just south of navigation
light 59.8 and another group east and just north of Crooked Creek Bay. The
cormorants perch on all the powerline towers daily and also fill all the trees
at roosting time at the larger island south of the powerline.
