[birdky] a birding moment

10/10/03 Mount Zion
While wandering around in the mist this morning I saw a flock of approx. 100
RED-WINGED BLACKBIRDS
flush from the weeds. Suddenly, a much bigger bird caught my eye . . . . an
imm. COOPER'S HAWK had
just snatched one of the blackbirds right in front of me! It took it to the
ground for a few
minutes, then flew off to the woods with its catch.
Savannah and Chipping Sparrow (numbers increasing)
Tennessee Warbler
Magnolia Warbler
Cape May Warbler
Yellow-rumped Warbler
Palm warbler
Black-and-white Warbler
Common Yellowthroat
