Gary Ritchison has been kind enough to post a few new photos at the KOS
web site at the following links:

This is a great photo of the beautiful juvenile plumage of the Red Knot.
This one is the bird that Hap Chambers found last week at Jonathan
Creek. Note the neat pattern to the feathers of the back including the
dark line along the shaft and the "double-layer," dark/white edgings.
Thanks to Don Martin for the photo.

Yesterday morning, Mark Monroe, Eddie Huber and myself did some passive
netting at the Melco flood retention basin in Jefferson County where
Eddie had found two Clay-colored Sparrows on Saturday. There are a lot
of passerines in this area right now, so we just put up a few nets to
see what we might catch. In about 2.5 hours we banded 17 birds of 7
species including one of the two Clay-coloreds! This documentation
serves to FINALLY replace the pitiful photo of mine from 1989 that
appears on page PHOTOS-12 in the back of the Annotated Checklist of the
Birds of Kentucky and that up to now has served as the only
photo-documentation of the species in Kentucky! Thanks to Eddie Huber
for the photos.
