Despite the completely dry pond/swamp, Caperton Swamp on River Road was
active this morning.
14 warbler species (female/imm. unless otherwise noted): mourning (adult
male, just off the path to the right, about 11 a.m.), hooded (adult male),
black-throated green, blackburnian, Wilson's, yellow, 2 bay-breasted, 2
prothonotary, 3 ovenbirds, 3 black-and-white, 4 Tennessee, 6 Am. redstarts,
6 chestnut-sided, and 10 magnolia.
Also: yellow-bellied and probable least flycatcher and 2 summer tanagers.
The Falls of the Ohio at midday had a few shorebirds. In addition to
killdeer, 3 buff-breasted sandpipers on the fossil beds. At Wave Rock: 1
semi plover, 1 spotted, and 3-4 least sandpipers.
