Thought some of you might be interested to know that the Melco flood
retention basin served its purpose during the past weekend's deluge in
Louisville. According to Dave Schaftlein, the basin filled to TWENTY
feet deep, reaching the tops of the handrails on the lower deck of the
pumping station. They have two huge pumps that will have it back down to
where a sump pump will begin operating within a week, and it will take
at least another week to get back to even having some marginal shoreline
habitat.
