David Roemer and I birded around KY, Barkley and Smithland Dams today.
Shorebird habitat is scarce but gulls and terns are concentrated.
We saw 5 species of gulls including 8 Laughing gulls, 1 Bonaparte's, 1
Franklin's, Ring-billed and Herring. Caspian Terns were numerous at all three
dams.
Two Scissor-tailed Flycatchers were seen in the trees near the boat ramp
below Barkley Dam. Other birds of interest were: American White Pelican,
Coots
and Pied Billed Grebes.
