Since I first spotted the Moorhens, at the Sloughs, this summer I've 
been trying to check on them frequently.
Dates and details:

6/24 first spotted one Ad.
7/8 2 Ad. and 4 Juv. (fluffy chicks)
7/14 3 Ad. and 4 Juv. (fuffy chicks)
7/26 1 Ad.
7/28 1 Ad. and 3 Juv.
8/6 1 Ad. and 1 Juv.
8/14 1 Ad. and 1 Juv.
8/27 1 Ad.
9/4 2 Ad. and 1 Juv.
9/6 1 breeding Ad., 2 non-breeding Ad., 4 Juv

Every sighting has been at the end of the 2nd or 3rd left turn where a 
duck trapping area is cleared. This is a bare sandy area that has been 
raised up above the surrounding wetland that is filled with Lillys 
except next to the sandy area where there is clear water. I don't know 
if the Moorhens like this clear water edge more or it is actually the 
only place that one can see them. Either these few like this clear 
water area alot or all the acres of Lillys are filled with Moorhens. :-)
