I birded the Sinclair Unit of Peabody most of the day today. The mud flats
on the large pond near the ash basin had approx. 60 peeps. These included
least, semi-palmated, 5 Baird's and 1 sanderling. Most of the birds appeared
to
be juveniles. Also present were a greater yellowlegs, a stilt sandpiper, a
semi-palmated plover, great egrets and a Caspian tern.
The end of S-5 had a singing Bell's vireo and there was a sedge wren in a
marshy area off of S-2. Great views of a great horned owl sitting in a tree at
11 am was also a highlight.
