A pretty juvenile Baird's Sandpiper, 2 Western Sandpipers and a Merlin were 
highlights of a trip to
the Fishing Creek mudflats today. As I pulled up to shore to have a better look 
at the Merlin the
Killdeer were sitting very still trying to blend into the mudflat. I was nearly 
on top of them
before they decided I was a bigger threat than the Merlin and burst into 
flight. The Merlin wasn't
interested; he preferred to chase the kingfisher and buzz the Osprey.
