[birdky] Warren County

The rains have eliminated shorebird habitat in Warren
County by raising the level of the ponds high into the
vegetation. Maybe this will be the start of a good
season at the transient lakes. Walton's Pond has
formed to some extent, and five Black Terns dropped in
for a quick snack while I was there today.
A few birds of interest have been present along Drakes
Creek behind my house lately with highlights being a
Mourning Warbler on August 30 and a Gray-cheeked
Thrush on September 2. The thrush set a new early
fall date for Kentucky. In addition, 1-2 Least
Flycatchers have been present daily since August 30.
Warblers present in the yard today, September 3,
included Kentucky, Black-throated Green, Blue-winged,
Yellow, and Magnolia.
The high pressure system now tracking across southern
Canada preceeded by a low will bring us a tremendous
influx of new birds in the next few days. It's time
to enjoy fall migration.
