Sorry about the formatting in the August 30, 2003 big day report. It appears
as though some will have problems reading it, but I won't repost it. I
learned a formatting lesson with that one.

Mark Monroe and I looked unsuccessfully for the Painted Bunting in western
Fulton County on the 31st.  We did see three Soras along the KY 1282 ditch
that runs along the north end of the Long Point Unit of Reelfoot NWR.

On our way back up the WK Pkwy, we encountered a road-killed armadillo, a
first for both of us in KY.  They have been reported for a number of years
in that part of the state west of Kentucky Lake, but this one was at Mile 54
in Muhlenberg County. It is thought that at least some armadillos found
north of their normal range may get there inadvertently by hitching rides on
rail cars or semi trailers, becoming part of the load when they climb into
crates or other materials being shipped.  Who knows how many may be
displaced in this way.
