[birdky] RPT MITCHELL LAKE THIS MORNING

As reported by many, Mitchell is the place to be if your a shorebird or wader.
Having not been there in nearly 3 weeks I was overwhelmed by the numbers of
birds there today. Most all species that I observed have been previously
reported. Most interesting is the variety of peep age classes with juvenile
and adult semi, western and least present. I can't begin to identify every
individual but if studied long enough most extremes can be easily found.
Numbers are very rough estimates. Highlights include:
Blue-w teal 20
N. shoveler 1
G. blue heron 20+
Great egret 50
Snowy egret 40
Little blue heron 10
Miss kite 1
Bald eagle 2
Black-b plover 1 (molting adult)
Killdeer 3 to 400 (white headed individual still present)
Greater yellowlegs 3
Lesser yellowlegs 10
Spotted sandpiper 1
Sanderling 1
Semi sand 100+
Western 10 ++
Least 75
Pectoral sp 200 +
Stilt sp 1
Short-b dowitcher 2
Least tern 85 counted in one sweep of scope. Likely several more scattered
over the area.
Black tern 4
Fish crows
All swallows except tree.
