[birdky] night sounds

I went out in the yard just before dawn this morning to top off the cow
watering trough. A Horned Owl was calling repeatedly from a dead limb at the
very top of an oak tree in the barn lot and being answered by a nearby, but
invisible Horned Owl at a little higher pitch. I heard one call of a distant
Barred Owl and an unidentified call consisting of a single, emphatic note. The
one note call was at about the same pitch as a Barred Owl's call. Whatever the
one note call was, I have heard it many times before on hot summer nights. I
didn't hear a Screech Owl last night, but have heard one calling on several
recent nights.
