I've been focusing on shorebirds lately and have seen a few posts about
warblers, but I haven't been paying much attention to passerines. So
Tennessee Warblers decided to snap me out of it this morning as I was
heading out from my mom's in Louisville ... at least three were chipping
in a little group in a small patch of tasseling sweet corn, announcing
that my second favorite time of year (fall warbler peak) is almost upon
us.

Yesterday I was out in Henderson and Union counties. There is some
shorebird habitat out there, but not much on it. I did have single juv.
Sanderling (slough along KY 268) and Buff-breasted Sandpiper (Camp #9
pond). Also heard at least 10 Sedge Wrens singing in and adjacent to
Sauerheber. As noted previously by Charlie Crawford, I believe, the
Sauerheber "shorebird unit" is a maze of water primrose :o(

I also dropped briefly by the MSD basin in southern Jefferson County
where the stint was. Shorebird numbers and divserity remained quite
similar to what they've been since Monday. There have been a few
questions about continued access to this site; it will be possible, but
on a somewhat irregular basis for now. There is no way to arrange 24-7
access, but the club has secured permission for semi-regular visits. For
now these will be maybe once or twice a week and organized by either
myself or the Bells. We need to figure out how best to disseminate info
about these visits, but BIRDKY will likely be as good as any. Right now
we haven't decided if some regular pattern of a certain day of the week
will work or not. Just so it is clear, however, the gate is always
locked and birders should enter only when in the company of an organized
visit has been arranged with MSD. Thanks for continued patience and
exercising of prudent common sense.
