FreeLists / birdky / [birdky] Minor Clark Fish Hatchery - 2 Upland Sandpipers

I visited the fish hatchery from about 8am until 2pm.   Around 8:30am  
I discovered 2 Upland Sandpipers in Pond #23.   They progressed  
around the pond, crossed the road and entered Pond #24.   One  
eventually made it to pond #25 but something flushed all the birds  
while I was checking out another pond and I'm not sure if they flew.   
I'd check Pond #24 first if looking.    They are extremely difficult  
to find as they "hug" the rocks on the sides, occasionally working  
their way down to the pond bottom.  They also spent time in the grass  
at the top of the ponds.    I just happened to notice a bird heading  
for the rocks when I first got there or I might have missed them.    
It was about an hour before I discovered the other one.  They can sit  
as still as a statue for a long period of time......and they blend  
into the rocks perfectly.   Whenever I'd try to relocate them, I'd  
just sit at the end of a pond and watch for movement.

Upland Sandpipers - 2
Spotted Sandpiper - 1
Lesser Yellowlegs - 1
Semipalmated Sandpipers - 2
Least Sandpipers - 6
Semipalmated Plovers - 2
Pectoral Sandpipers - 5
Bald Eagle - 1
Great Egrets - 4
Great Blue Herons - 3
Green Herons - everywhere!!!

Yes.....I got some shots of the Upland Sandpipers.   I'll get some  
posted later tonight.
