Seven of us went birding this morning at Shawnee Park Riverwalk and Caperton
Swamp to look for migrants. Highlights at Riverwalk were:
Caspian Tern
Yellow-billed Cuckoo
Great Crested Flycatcher
Blue Gray Gnatcatcher
Red-eyed vireo
Golden-winged Warbler
Orange-crowned Warbler
Yellow Warbler
Magnolia Warbler
Cape May Warbler
Blackburnian Warbler
Black & White Warbler
American Redstart
Mourning Warbler
Wilson's Warbler
Canada Warbler
Numerous Chestnut-sided Warblers were everywhere! We also saw a Cooper's Hawk
take off from the ground with a bird in its talons, then let it go. The bird
limped to seek shelter under a tree.
At Caperton Swamp not as much warbler activity, but we did see the following:
Northern Parula
Prothonontary Warbler
Great Blue Heron
Green Heron
Wood Ducks
Red-shouuldered Hawk
Belted Kingfisher
Pat Bell
Jane Bell
Eddie and Jennifer Huber
Carol Besse
Tom & Colleen Becker

Happy Birding!
