several birders more experienced than i am have expressed a healthy skepticism 
about our identification of these birds. i appreciate the feedback and hope 
they can be verified. we saw them and heard them singing. they sang nearby then 
at some distance after i played a petersen bird call cd. we couldn't tell if 
they were really responding to that cd or not.
the calls we heard were nothing i had heard before, and i know the local 
breeders thoroughly. if someone proves me wrong it won't hurt my feelings; i 
would love to get to the bottom of this.
