Mammoth Cave ranger and birder Matt Roland has found a population of Bachman's
Sparrows at the Job Corps site in Mammoth Cave National Park. I returned with
him to the site this morning where we saw the birds and heard them singing. The
habitat is an old field full of young trees, old brush piles, and lots of
scrubby plants. If anyone wants details on getting there, please let me know.
I'm going to show my ignorance here...I have never seen this bird in Kentucky.
Is it rare or have I just been missing them ?
