I was quite discouraged when I read on birdky that the Swallow-tailed Kite 
was not seen over the weekend. However, knowing I could probably look for it 
today, I decided to meet Brainard Palmer-ball and Mark Monroe at the 
Sinclair unit of the Peabody WMA this morning. We had the best look at a 
Swallow-tailed Kite anyone could wish for. Observing the bird from the 
previously described area off the S-5 road, sometimes as close as 100ft, we 
even observed it one time to pick a praying mantis from the top of a small 
tree and eat it while on the wing. Insect after insect fell pray to this 
beautiful and graceful bird!
