[birdky] Lake #9 and Fulton County 7/20

The weather was forecast to be picture perfect so we headed toward Fulton
County. We were not disappointed by the weather or the birds. Most of the
wet
spots and sloughs are dry or on the verge of being dried out. Snakes seem
to be especially disturbed and were seen taking advantage of the last
remaining wet spots.
Lake #9 had the perfect amount of water and shoreline for water lovers,
waders, dragonflies, kites and shorebirds. Following are some of the
highlights.
Wood Duck - 13
Mallard - 11
Northern Shoveler - 1
Hooded Merganser - 3 juv
American White Pelican - 80
Double Crested Cormorant - 4
Great Egret - 120
Little Blue Heron - 12
Mississippi Kite - 8
Red-shouldered Hawk -1 juv
Red-tailed Hawk - 1 juv
Killdeer - 45
Lesser yellowlegs -2
Solitary Sandpiper - 22
Least Sandpiper - 30
Pectoral Sandpiper - 16
Least Tern - 10
Ruby-throated Hummingbird - 7
Red-headed Woodpecker - 6
All expected swallows seen on wires and hundred of Cliff Swallows some still
nesting.
