[birdky] Letter about KY & Barkley Lake levels
- From: HapC1@xxxxxxx
- To: birdky@xxxxxxxxxxxxx
- Date: Wed, 5 Jul 2006 15:00:32 EDT
Many of you are aware that KY and Barkley Lakes have been undergoing an
Environmental Assessment (EA) on a proposal to extend the duration of summer
pool. The proposal was to extend the drawdown until July 15 for a trial
period
of three year.
KOS received a letter today from the US Corp of Engineers stating the
following:
The Corp's recommended action is a continuation of the existing pool
operations, which is beginning summer drawdown on July 1. Extending summer
pool to
July 15 creates concerns about impacts to environmental resources such as
wetlands, migratory bird habitat, water quality, fisheries, cultural
resources,
threatened and endangered species and two national wildlife refuges.
