August is National Hummingbird Month and it's also when we hold our 
"Hummingbird Mornings" presentations at sites around the eastern U.S. 
Come join us for an exciting opportunity to talk about hummers and 
see how they're banded and released.

First up is the annual Hummingbird Festival at Land Between the 
Lakes, Kentucky/Tennessee on 5-7 August.

We'll return to Fredericksburg VA on 13 August and then be at Black 
Hill Regional Park (Boyds, Maryland) on 13-14 August.

The season ends up at McDowell Park southwest of Charlotte, North 
Carolina on 20 August.

Anyone--especially K-12 teachers--who is interested in the Operation 
RubyThroat/GLOBE hummingbird observation protocols can get certified 
to submit data at special workshops on 5 and 13 August (see 
http://www.rubythroat.org/GLOBEMain.html ). Please note that you need 
not be a classroom teacher to participate in Operation RubyThroat 
GLOBE; we welcome input from "citizen scientists" of any age, 
including gardeners and backyard birders.
